SAN-PVE Privacy Policy

Introduction

The South Asian Network on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism, or SAN-PVE, is a regional network of PVE practitioners of South Asia. As a resource for on-the-ground practitioners, SAN-PVE collects, stores and processes personal data in order to accomplish its goals. This privacy policy provides a framework for the supervision and management of personal data submitted to SAN-PVE, to ensure that your personal data is used in a fair manner in accordance with the specific purposes identified in this privacy policy.

SAN-PVE strictly prohibits the sharing of sensitive material, intelligence, or classified information relating to any ongoing law enforcement operation. SAN-PVE urges its users to be mindful of their professional duties and obligations concerning confidentiality when using the website.

Collection and usage of personal data

By the submission of your personal data through the membership form, you consent to SAN-PVE to collect, store and process personal data you provided, specifically for the purposes identified.

What data will SAN-PVE collect?

  • Full name: Your full name assists the SAN-PVE administrators in searching the Network, addressing invitations correctly, and is required to draft participant lists for SAN-PVE events;
  • E-mail address: Your email address is required for you to receive the relevant updates and invitations to SAN-PVE events;
  • Country: Your nationality helps the SAN-PVE administrators to monitor and steer the geographical balance within the Network and SAN-PVE events;
  • Organisation: Your organisation assists the SAN-PVE administrators in searching the Network, selecting relevant organisations for SAN-PVE events, and is required to draft participant lists for those events;
  • Function title: Your function title assists the SAN-PVE administrators in selecting relevant expertise for SAN-PVE events, and is required to draft participant lists for those events;
  • Gender: Your gender allows the SAN-PVE administrators to monitor and encourage the gender balance within the Network and its events;
  • Phone number: Your phone number assists the SAN-PVE administrators in contacting you directly;
  • Working group: Registering your preferred thematic working groups assists the SAN-PVE administrators in searching the Network and selecting relevant participants for SAN-PVE events;
  • Expertise: Providing the details on the specific fields of your expertise assists the SAN-PVE administrators in searching the Network and selecting relevant participants for SAN-PVE events.

How will SAN-PVE use your personal data?

This information is used to produce a database of basic contact information of all registered SAN-PVE members. This database is made available on the website, only to registered and approved members, in order to facilitate the communicative and networking features of the website. This information may also be used to contact you about upcoming SAN-PVE events or to generate anonymized reports on the growth of the Network as well as attendance and statistics in relation to SAN-PVE events.

If you accept an invitation to an in-person SAN-PVE event, further personal information will be required in order to organize travel and accommodation. This information will not be stored in the central database and will be treated according to separate privacy guidelines.

Safeguards and retention

SAN-PVE implements physical, administrative and technical safeguards to limit access and processing of your personal data specifically for the purposes identified. Access to your personal data is restricted to limited number of authorized SAN-PVE administrators. If new features are launched which significantly impact the scope of collection or processing of personal data, this policy will be revised subject to a formal data protection impact assessment. Unless you notify the SAN-PVE administrators, your personal data will be stored for the duration that the SAN-PVE Network is active, and will subsequently be securely archived or deleted subject to agreements with the Administrative Office and the Advisory Board of the SAN-PVE Network.
